Taking care of your jewellery is essential to keep it looking beautiful and to prolong its life.
Whilst training as a jewellery maker, I gained additional knowledge on how to make sure jewellery remains at its best. Please find here a summary of care instructions for high-end costume jewellery, which is the main type of jewellery developed under the Hélène Elisabeth brand.
Avoid contact with cream, perfume and hairspray.
Exposure to moisture, water-based products, and/or any types of chemicals can damage metals and gemstones, leading to discolouration or erosion.
Avoid contact with water: shower, swimming...
For the same reasons as above.
Remove before physical activities.
Taking off your jewellery before engaging in physical activities like sports or manual labour will as well reduce the chances of damage.
Remove before going to sleep.
Removing your jewellery before bedtime will also decrease the risk of causing damage.
Clean and polish using a soft cloth.
Use a dry soft cloth to wipe away dirt and oils. Avoid using water.
Store neatly when not using.
When you are not wearing your jewellery, store it in a clean, dry, and preferably lined jewellery box, a soft pouch or even its original box to prevent scratches and tangles. Different pieces should be stored separately.
With proper care, your jewellery can keep its exquisite features for years to come.
