There's something quietly powerful about building something from scratch. Not backed by a boardroom, not funded by a venture capital firm who will never be faced with the down to earth realities of running a business day after day, just a person, a family, an idea, and the kind of stubborn belief that keeps you going when the Instagram algorithm isn't cooperating, when custom export rules keep changing, or when your packaging supplier stops producing your favourite box. Not to be personal.
I'm lucky enough to work alongside some amazing founders, and I wanted to shine a little light on a few of them here. Because one of the things I love most about running Hélène Elisabeth Jewellery is the privilege I have in making women shine brighter, usually by designing or curating jewellery for them, but here, by featuring their businesses. So here are a few female founders I think you should know about.
SuperDinky by Lorna
— For the tiniest, most precious ones
SuperDinky was founded by a preemie parent after her son was born at 31 weeks, and everything about this brand carries that origin story in the most tender way. She designs organic clothing specifically for premature babies in NICU, including a vest that can be put on without disturbing monitoring leads, and runs a Parcel of Hope for families navigating one of the most frightening experiences of their lives. This is what it looks like when a founder turns personal experience into something that genuinely changes people's days. Remarkable, in every sense.

Uashmama UK by Marco & Emanuela
— Where sustainability looks this beautiful
An Italian family business with an aesthetic that feels entirely at home in a perfectly curated London flat. Uashmama makes lifestyle products from washable paper that looks and moves like leather, entirely sustainable, endlessly stylish. Their paper bags have become something of a cult object, the perfect plant pot holder, the most elegant bread basket, and once you discover them, you'll start finding excuses to put one in every room.

Hannah Weston Jewellery by Hannah
— Jewellery that means something
Hannah makes meaning-led jewellery in recycled sterling silver and 9ct gold, pieces designed to be worn every single day, as quiet reminders of your own strength. Her jewellery is made with intention: the idea that what sits against your skin should empower you.

Amaura London by Sejal
— Fragrance as a form of self-care
Amaura London is a luxury home fragrance brand that takes sustainability seriously without ever sacrificing beauty. Refillable candles, long-lasting alcohol-free reed diffusers, products crafted in England with carefully considered ingredients, this is a brand that believes your home should smell extraordinary and your choices should feel good. A genuinely rare combination in the fragrance world.

A La KArt Creations by Kitty
— Stationery that gives back to the earth
Plantable wedding stationery made from wildflower seed paper, how beautiful is that concept? A La KArt creates eco-conscious stationery and gifts for couples, makers, florists, and brands who care about what they leave behind. Your save-the-dates become wildflowers. Your packaging becomes a garden. It's the kind of idea that makes you wonder why everything isn't made this way.

Skudaboo by Katie
— Art prints that actually feel like you
Katie left corporate retail to do things differently and Skudaboo is what happens when you do. An independent art print shop filled with colourful, eclectic wall art, built on the belief that your home should feel genuinely like you, not a mood board assembled by an algorithm. She works with independent artists and curates pieces designed to be loved for years, not discarded with the next trend. Refreshing doesn't begin to cover it.
